Self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves, and our behavior clearly reflects those feelings. Understanding self-esteem is very important. It affects how you think, act and even how you relate to other people. It affects your potential to be successful. Low self esteem means poor confidence which in turn may cause negative thoughts. These negative thoughts may lead you to give up more easily rather than face challenges. In addition, it has a direct bearing on your happiness and wellbeing. Contrary to popular belief, self-esteem is not about thinking you are great at everything. It is having a realistic perception of who you are and how well you do things. It is about believing in yourself and setting goals based in reality. This presentation discusses what self-esteem really means, and ways we can build our own self-esteem, as well as how we can nurture self-esteem in others. |
